A Healthy and Filling Meal with Chickpeas

Chickpea Juicy A Delicious and Hearty Turkish Dish

Chickpea Sulu is one of the most popular and hearty stewed dishes of Turkish cuisine. Chickpea many different recipes and cooking of this delicious dish prepared with onions, tomatoes and spices method. Chickpea Sulu is usually served with rice or bread.

The history of Chickpea Sulu is quite old. This dish, which has been consumed in Anatolia for centuries, was cooked in the Ottoman
also had an important place in the cuisine. Chickpeas are rich in protein and fibre. so it was very popular with the people.

Ingredients:

• 2 cups chickpea
•4 tablespoons of olive oil
• 2 onions
• 3 tomatoes
• 1 green chilli
• 2 tablespoons tomato paste
• 1 teaspoon of chilli paste
•1 teaspoon cumin
• 1 teaspoon chilli flakes
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 4 cups of water

Preparation:

1. Soak the chickpeas the night before.
2. Drain the soaked chickpeas and put them in a pot. Add water and add chickpeas cook until soft.
3. Chop the onions and fry them in olive oil.
4. Grate the tomatoes and pepper and add to the onions. Tomatoes cook until soft.
5. Add tomato paste, cumin, chilli flakes, salt and black pepper and cook until the spices smell. fry for a while.
6. Add the cooked chickpeas and chickpea water to the pot.
7. Cook the dish over low heat for about 20 minutes.
8. Serve the chickpea water hot with rice or bread.

Tips and Tricks:

•You can use a pressure cooker to cook the chickpeas more quickly.
• You can also add different vegetables to the dish. Carrot, potato or courgette to Chickpea Water will add flavour.
• You can sprinkle parsley or fresh mint over the chickpea water before serving.
