A Velvety Delight: The Perfect Turkish Coffee with Milk

While many love the intense, rich flavor of traditional Turkish coffee, some prefer a softer, smoother taste. That’s where Turkish coffee with milk comes in. With its velvety texture and unique aroma, this is a special take on the classic that will add a new dimension to your coffee experience. We’ve prepared this exclusive recipe with all the key tips just for you!

What Makes Turkish Coffee with Milk Different?

Traditional Turkish coffee is brewed by cooking finely ground coffee with water. In the milk version, we simply swap the water for milk. This simple change takes away the coffee’s bitterness, giving it a sweeter, creamier, and smoother body. The intense aroma of the coffee beans is balanced by the softness of the milk, creating a drink that’s as delightful as a dessert.

Ingredients:

A cezve (Turkish coffee pot)

A Turkish coffee cup

1 heaping teaspoon of finely ground Turkish coffee

1 coffee cup (approx. 70-80 ml) of cold, full-fat milk

Sugar (optional, to your taste)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Add Ingredients to the Pot: First, add the Turkish coffee to your cezve. If you’re making it sweet, add the sugar now. Then, pour in the cold milk.
  2. Stir Well: Before placing the pot on the stove, mix all the ingredients thoroughly just once. Make sure the coffee and sugar are completely dissolved in the milk.
  3. Cook on Low Heat: Place the cezve on the lowest possible heat. The secret to great Turkish coffee is not to rush it. High heat can cause the milk to boil over and the coffee to burn.
  4. Collect the Foam: As the coffee heats up, foam will begin to form on the surface. Just before the coffee starts to rise, use a spoon to scoop the foam and distribute it evenly among your cups.
  5. Remove from Heat: The moment the coffee swells up like it’s about to overflow from the pot, remove it from the heat. Do not let it boil. Boiling will cause the foam to disappear and ruin the flavor.
  6. Serve: Gently pour the remaining coffee into the cups and serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions:

Turkish coffee with milk pairs wonderfully with a piece of plain chocolate, a date, or some hazelnuts. These flavors help to highlight the creamy texture of the coffee. And don’t forget to serve a glass of water on the side!
